So you are now a reseller of the Nexis 100AP CD/DVD Publisher. What features are you going to promote? Silly question? No! Many resellers focus on a feature and they push it to death not realizing they are losing sales by focusing to closely on the one area.

Your first step in selling a CD and DVD publisher is to access the needs of the potential customer. If they are IT savvy then promoting the ease of use will not be a strong selling point.

On the other hand, when money is tight and businesses are on a budget, generic inexpensive consumables may be one of the best features to promote.

As a reseller your hardest task is not in the selling of the products, it is assessing the needs of the prospective customers. Understanding what makes your customer tick can open the door to the features you need to promote to them. Promote the right features and that sales door opens.

Customers are no different to you or I. If a product doesn’t fill a need then we will not buy it. Create a need, or show that a need exists and the reverse becomes the case.

The best salespeople in the world are those that can quickly assess a sales situation, understand the prospective customer, then modify their sales pitch to suit that situation. What are you going to promote? What the customer needs to hear – that’s what.

Clubs and associations are forever looking for ways to increase their revenue. For sporting clubs, they have the raw material there free of charge, they just need to convert it to a revenue stream.

Professional sports have mastered the art for many years and make millions of dollars in revenue each and every year. For smaller sporting clubs the opportunity is there, they just need to capitalize on it – and that is where the CD and DVD Publishing system reseller can make a killing.

Many fans even of local sports, jump at the opportunity to buy footage either of full games, or compilations of game highlights. For the sporting club, they need a video camera and someone prepared to film the event. From there, the footage can be copied to DVD for sale to the fans.

Junior sport is one area where there is a lot of money to be made. Parents are always willing to purchase footage of their son or daughter in action. For resellers, prove to the club that producing finished DVDs is not difficult and that there is a good profit to be made from the equipment and they will jump at the opportunity.

You don’t have to be a large national franchised team to make money from the action, even the smallest clubs can a find a market if they price the end product to suit the customers. For resellers, sporting clubs can represent an untapped and valuable market.

One mistake that many resellers make it to assume that ‘anyone can sell that’. It’s not always true. For example, if you have little computer experience and are somewhat fearful of computers, then products like the Nexis 100AP Autoprinter or a CD and DVD Publishing system may not be right for you.

If, on the other hand, you are a whizz on computers, love playing around with graphics and pictures and have experience burning your own CDs then becoming a reseller of these products could be a perfect fit.

Of course, in life, most people sit somewhere in between these two extremes. Are they the right equipment for you to sell. My first question is always, can you competently demonstrate the product to prospective customers.

It comes down to a level of confidence. If the customer feels confident in your demonstration of the product then they will also feel confident in the product. If bumble around and turn a short demo into a long mistake filled session, the customer will have no confidence in you, or the product.

As with all selling, knowledge and belief in the product is the number one requirement. If you cannot demonstrate those skills with something as straightforward as a CD and DVD Publishing system then you should look elsewhere to get your start as a reseller.

Many resellers seem to think that they can represent a product successfully by simply reading the literature. This may fine if you have a lot of experience in the industry with similar equipment, however, if your new to the industry, you will struggle to sell products without a good working knowledge.

Buyers are becoming more sophisticated, particularly when it comes to spending large sums. Ask them spend more than a couple of hundred dollars and they are going to examine the product, and you, fairly closely.

If you take a product such as the Nexis 100AP Autoprinter and try to sell it without having used it, or at least seen it in action, buyers are going to trip you up with tricky questions fairly quickly. This will not only lose you valuable sales, it will cost you your reputation, before you have even tried to build it.

The Nexis 100AP Autoprinter is easy to use so it’s just a matter of running through the installation process and doing several test runs. Once you see it in action the documentation will take on some relevance. You will understand what the documentation is referring to. This puts you in a position to answer customers questions quickly and accurately.

Get to know your product as intimately as possible and you will find that talking about is a lot easier and sales a lot easier to complete.

There are a lot of people who reach a stage in their life where working for someone else becomes a pain in the proverbial. For some, it’s no longer an option. Our workforce is rapidly changing to the point where some individuals find they are now ‘over-qualified’ and unwanted. This may be the perfect opportunity to become your own boss and one of the easiest ways to start is as a reseller.

Reseller can often have much lower start up costs, can run the business from home in the early days, and enjoy all the benefits that being your own boss can bring. Being a reseller means you can set your own hours, which days you intend working and which products you intend selling.

Being your own boss has its downsides as well. If you don’t sell any products, you don’t earn any income. If you spend more time playing that selling, you may well spend more than you earn. Like all businesses, the more effort you put in, the more you will profit in the long run. Fortunately, because you don’t have to outlay a lot money, you can start small, perhaps working a regular job part time, and slowly build your business.

Resellers of products such as the Nexis 100AP Autoprinter can earn a reasonable return on their investment. Finding your own market, developing a customer base and providing a great service could be the start of running your own business and being your boss.

To be successful as a reseller, you need to be able to target the right customers. If you take the Nexis 100AP Autoprinter as an example. Who would get the best use out of this printer?

There are not many households that would have a regular need for a machine that prints out 50 CDs or DVDs so targeting the general population would be a waste of marketing resources. Likewise, there are many businesses that simply don’t have a need for this type of equipment.

There are however, a wide range of businesses and organizations that would need to print out CD’s and DVD’s if not daily, then certainly on a regular basis. Regular enough to warrant the purchase of one of these machines.

Tourism operators or bodies; schools and private training organizations; photographers; and amateur musicians (or professionals looking to make a break); they would all have a need to publish and print CDs or DVDs on a regular basis.

Knowing who your real customers are is the first step to a successful career as reseller. Selling the product is the next step.

As a reseller of any products, you need to find features that will appeal to your potential customers. These features are not always evident as every customer demographics has differing needs.

For some groups, speed can be one of the most important aspects. Take the Nexis 100AP AutoPrinter as an example. What features could you promote?

Ink – the Nexis 100AP uses low cost non-proprietary inkjet cartridges

Ease of Use – the Nexis 100AP is perfect for both amateur or commercial users

Speed – the NEXIS 100AP burns up to 50 discs per hour

Cost – printing to disks is far cheaper and lasts longer than printing to labels

They are just some of the features that could be promoted. You can customize your presentation of these features depending on the potential customer. For example, you can produce 50 discs per hour – if consider using a copier that requires printed labels, you have the added time required to fix the labels to the media.

Know your customers needs, know your products capabilities and features and sell to satisfy your customer.
